About Matthew Pennock

Matthew Pennock is an author, editor, and educator. He has published two collections of poetry, winner of the 2011 Kinereth-Gensler poetry award, Sudden Dog (Alice James Books 2012) and winner of the 2019 Gival Press Poetry Award, The Miracle Machine (Gival Press 2020). His work has been widely published in a variety of magazines and journals. As a member of the editorial board of Alice James Books, he served for nine years, the last five of which as chair. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia, received an MFA from Columbia University, and a PhD from the University of Cincinnati. He currently owns and operates a learning center in Tyson's Corner, Virgnia.
